Creating Quiet Retreats Amid Holiday Chaos

Creating a Calm Space During Holiday Chaos: Tips on establishing a designated quiet area where individuals can retreat and recharge during holiday events.

  1. Choose a room that is away from the noise of the social gathering.
  2. Having earplugs is a good idea for those who want to muffle the noises of the social gathering further.
  3. Fidget toys or other objects that can be used for stimming.
  4. A place to lay down for a nap would be ideal. When I am drained from social interaction, sleeping, even briefly, helps me recharge.
  5. Soft Blankets.
  6. A fan is a good idea if someone is sensitive to the temperature.
  7. Putting a sign on the door so that others know to be quiet while passing.
  8. Advil and allergy medication would also be helpful.
  9. Ensuring the room is dark but has lighting options is ideal.
  10. Consider providing a white noise machine.
